Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ (3)

  • What is the minimum number of pieces I can buy?
  • Do you have a minimum order quantity or restriction?
  • Must I always order large quantities becaue you are a wholesaler?

Do SPV Trade Have A Minimum Order Quantity?

no minimum order restriction on most items.

You can order any quantity you need.

We can ship single item samples or large orders worldwide.

Yes, your information is absolutely secure at SPV Trade. Our Servers are secured by  SSL encryption.

SPV Trade never stores any of your financial information like credit card numbers and security codes (CVV numbers). When you complete your order, we securely passes your billing information to the bank system. Credit Card numbers and CVV numbers are securely discarded immediately after they are sent to the bank.

You also can choose PayPal when you placing an order with us. In this way, you do not have to enter any of your billing or financial information on SPV Trade’s website.

Can You Label / Brand These Items With My Own Choice Of Logo?

Yes! Most of our products are ok to do that

If you want to put your own brand on products, this is possible, via labelling, printing, etching, special packaging, or product inserts.

Branding products and packaging usually requires a minimum order quantity in the hundreds.

If you are interested in labelling or branding at source in China, please buy at least 1pc sample from us to see the product first hand and decide your specific requirements for branding the product.

After you have reviewed your sample, please open a support ticket, referencing your prior order number or buyer account email address, and request a quotation.

Your request should include the product code or a link to which product you are interested in, your projected order volume, and as much detail about what type of labelling you have in mind. We will get back to you with a quotation.

QUESTIONS ABOUT BANK TRANSFERS, THE ORDER CONFIRMATION PROCESS, AND TRUST!

“I’ve got a tricky question for you – can you help? I made several similar test orders and checked them out. I haven’t paid for any yet, so the orders have order numbers and are ‘completed’ and ‘waiting for payment’ in the SPVTrade shop system. So now let’s say I want to pay for only one of these orders, and I’m going to send you payment by bank transfer. How do you know which order I’m paying for – maybe you will send me the wrong items?”

When we match bank payments with orders, we will normally check for payments which match invoice (cart checkout) totals exactly. But of course if there is any uncertainty we will contact the buyer. This is why, to make life easier for everyone, we ask customers to include full comments, especially an order number and confirmed address, when sending the bank transfer. (The banks usually let you include some comments – just ask them.)

“OK – how do I know you’ve received the bank payment and you’re activating this order?”

We will contact you to confirm we have received the order. We will quote the order number which you will be able to check in your SPVTrade ‘My Account’ area. Should there be an unforseen delay, for example a stock shortage, we will contact you to discuss changing an item or to let you know how the situation.

“But if you say you’ve sent the goods, how do I really know they’re on their way?”
We will email you with a tracking number 24 hours after we have dispatched your goods. Your goods are insured with the courier delivery and fully trackable online. You will be able to check the goods tracking number with the courier, e.g. DHL, and that will give you a guarantee that the goods you hve bought are safe and on the way.

“Do you give me the tracking number within 2-3 days?”

If you see products listed on our website, that means they are available to order right now. Some specialist products may take longer to deliver than others, e.g. because they require special packing and technical staff to complete the QA review. And sometimes we might run short on stock of popular items and have to wait a couple of days for stock delivery from the factories. If you need items urgently and you’re not sure if we can deliver fast enough for you, you can always check with us in advance to confirm how long we expect to turn around an order for a particular product you need.

– Is paying by bank transfer free of additional fees?

SPVTrade won’t charge you any extra fees for paying by bank transfer. However, banks usually charge something for bank-to-bank transfers.

You may have to pay a fee when the money is sent out of your account to SPVTrade ‘s  bank account.

Any such fee is your responsibility, so please ask your bank to provide you with clear details so you can account for this fee when you pay. For example, if you are paying for a SPVTrade order of $500, and the bank will charge $20 to transfer, please submit for the transfer $520. If you only submit $500 then the payment that arrives with us (in this example) will only be $480 and we won’t be able to send your full order.

Product Warranty (2)

SPV Trade undertakes the strictest Quality Control of any China supplier you could find.

Our factories have their own quality control processes, but we don’t only take their word for it! When products come into the SPV Trade warehouse we have a team of  qualified technicians who are dedicated to confirming the products are correct, in perfect condition, and working perfectly.

But sometimes things can go wrong… that’s why we back all our products with a 12-month guarantee. For full details of the warranty click here

If, unfortunately, the product you bought from SPVTrade.com seems to have a problem, please note that as a wholesaler what we can do is to allow you to return the faulty product for a free repair. If the product is not repairable, we will credit or refund. Please find below the details of how we can help you.

What to do in 3 steps

Step 1
Try to troubleshoot the item by checking the manual we provide in the package .Often we can solve the problem for you without you needing to send anything back. In many cases the product seems to have a problem, but it can be solved by restarting, installing properly, or fixing an accessory.

Step 2
If you still have difficulties with your item especially for complicated products such as Car DVD Players, GPS, fingerprint or Security Camera Systems we will recommend that you get the product installed or inspected by a qualified technician to confirm that it is faulty rather than incorrectly installed.

Step 3
Once you have confirmed the product is faulty thanks to step 1 and 2 Contact us. Provide your order number and the product code and all the steps you have tried to remedy this issue. We will review your case to allow a return under warranty.

You’re covered by our 12 month guarantee.
So if the product doesn’t work, we’ll help you send it back to us in China to get it fixed.

“Do you have a guarantee or warranty?”

Yes – SPVTrade only chooses to stock the very best quality products from professional China manufacturers. The quality is guaranteed.

All products that arrive in the  warehouse are checked for perfect appearance and correct functionality by our QC engineers.

Our packing team checks again to make sure that the right accessories are included and that the electrical / socket adapters are correct for your country.

(Please note in the case of region-specific items such as PAL / NTSC TV/Video Color Regions, digital TV, GSM mobile phones etc you are responsible for ordering the correct units and we will send you exactly what you order.)

Your orders are also guaranteed for successful delivery.

“How Does SPVTrade’s Warranty Compare To Other China Online Sellers?”

Here is a quick comparison that shows how SPVTrade does its best to provide a safe and fair B2B set of conditions to you:

SPVTrade
(real stock and warehouse,
experienced and professional systems)
Other China-based sellers
(inexperienced / unprofessional )
  • Products are sourced based on quality as the key factor, and we strictly reject many China-made products which are not up to standard for supplying to our customers.
  • SPVTrade has an in-house full time Quality Control Team who are trained in strict testing policies. Most batches of electronic products coming into our warehouse are tested one by one for function and appearance.
  • Returns under warranty are exceptional. We have very low complaint/return rates.
  • In any rare cases our QC did not discover a problem, we solve RMA cases rapidly and immediately stop selling any unreliable item.
  • Other online electronics websites won’t check the product before sending it to you since they don’t have any Quality Control.
  • Other China sellers don’t hold stock and they list thousands of random products online. They have little or no serious attempt to guarantee the basic quality of the products they advertise for sale, because they are not physically handling them and not committing to warehouse stock as SPVTrade does.
  • With less professional or private sellers from China, they won’t have any serious guarantee and won’t commit to help you if there is a problem.
Warranty duration:
SPVTrade offers 12 Month warranty on products
Other sellers:
1 month warranty or no warranty at all
Customer support:
SPVTrade has a professional English Speaking support team including  live chat. We will solve any product problem in a fast, professional, and friendly way.
Other sellers:
– Get ready for an nonexistent or poor quality email answering service.
– Your complaints are likely to be ignored by dubious sellers who don’t wish to help you in an honest way.

How does the warranty work?

Due to our stringent sourcing and QC processes, the fault rate on products shipped out by SPVTrade is very low. However, sometimes faults develop which couldn’t be detected before, and we will allow you to return the product for testing and a free repair. The warranty exactly lasts for 365 days from the day you have received the product.

In the case of delivery methods or destinations which lack a confirmed delivery tracking date, we will take the assumption that the warranty period starts 30 days after we sent out your order.

Exceptions to Warranty

  • We do not offer warranty or support for products not bought from SPVTrade.
  • The user voids the warranty if s/he flashes the firmware of a device, opens the body in an attempt to fix, or otherwise uses the device in a way that is not considered normal usage.
  • The warranty does not extend to free repair / replacement in cases to damage to products, accidental breakage, misuse, or wear and tear. Signs of physical damage may cause us to refuse to provide free repair.
  • Accessories are not covered the same warranty that applies to the main product.
  • Projector Lamps have a special condition applied due to the fact that lifetime depends on hours of use.
  • RC Toys are not covered for your breakage and internal rechargeable batteries are covered by the general battery warranty limitation.

Shipping & Delivery (15)

After we dispatch your goods, we will email you a tracking number for the courier used (depending on your email preferences), or your tracking number will simply be displayed in your account –
Depending on the courier chosen, there may be a 1-working-day gap between dispatching goods from our warehouse in China and getting the tracking number.

If you have not received a tracking number from us, it probably means we have not sent out your order yet. Most orders take 1-3 days to check, pack, and dispatch. If you are wondering where your order has got to, please open a ticket in the support system quoting your order number(s).

The standard delivery method for your SPVTrade orders is by courier such as DHL. They will deliver to your doorstep. You need to be present for the delivery and sign for the packages. Please inspect the goods are intact before signing.

  • Couriers require a signature from the recipient for delivery, and this is a fast and secure way to have your products delivered.
  • It is essential you provide a full, accurate shipping address, and a valid delivery phone number.
  • If there is VAT or any Import Duty to pay on the goods due to your country’s import rules, the courier will present you with a bill at the time of delivery. In general you will need to pay any such bill to the courier before you can receive the goods. Any such charges are your responsibility and unfortunately we cannot offer advice or estimates about import fees or other taxes in your country.
  • If you believe your package is missing items, includes incorrect items, or has been damaged or tampered with in any way, it is essential that you communicate this clearly to the courier company’s delivery driver at the time of delivery. If you accept delivery and sign for the goods it is much more difficult to pursue a claim later.

Goods bought from SPV Trade are DDP – delivered duty paid, right?

Wrong, sorry. We do not – and cannot – calculate, predict, or guess the import taxes and duties and other associated charges you may have to pay in your country when the goods arrive. Please find out about this before you start placing orders.

Terms and Conditions you should know relating to deliveries:

  • Before you read the small print: Importing is a breeze in most countries! You may have to pay your own country’s VAT (i.e. Sales Tax) and sometimes variable Import Duty when the items arrive, but in the vast majority of cases packets / cartons delivered from China by courier arrive safely with no problems at all!
  • Read the item description carefully! We will ship you whatever you order. Although we do assist you by manually checking all orders to screen possible region / compatibility inconsistencies, we do not accept returns of healthy products which were simply mis-ordered by you. If you are in an NTSC video color region, don’t order PAL products for your market. Check if your locality has free DVB-T broadcasts before buying DVB-T digital TV receivers. If the driver’s seat is on the left, don’t order left side passenger sun visor Car DVD Monitors! Duh!
  • Additionally, there are some (cool) types of gadgets including for example (but not limited to) radio signal jammers, high powered lasers, and quasi-medical products, that are not legal (booo!) to import into certain countries. As the buyer / importer it is entirely your responsibility to find out in advance of placing your order whether your ordered items are subject to import restrictions. SPVTrade will ship you whatever you order, so we do not accept liability in the case of failed delivery of goods, where they have failed to clear your country’s local Customs – either in cases where the goods are turned back, or in cases where the goods are seized. In addition SPVTrade is not responsible for informing you of possible import restriction issues before or after purchase.
  • We will not be responsible for any damage that may be caused on your computer, console, or other hardware / software during / related to installation of any of our products. We not be liable for any damage or personal loss due to incorrect installation of our products.
  • Delivery time: If there is a possible delay due to the warehouse being out of stock, we’ll contact you by email to discuss sending out your order in separate shipments, changing products, or other options. Larger orders that exceed our stock may take up to 1 week longer to send out, as we have to order from the factory. In such cases we will contact you about any delay. In certain cases, e.g. the first time you try to drop-ship to a different address than your own, we have to complete a verification check with you before processing your order, which can add 1-3 days to the processing time.
  • If you are at all unsure about importing goods from China, start with SPVTrade. Your payment is through a safe channel, your delivery is guaranteed, the products are quality assured, and you can begin by ordering only 1 piece as a sample!
“I Received My Packet, But Not Everything I Ordered Is Included”

Is something missing from your order? Please follow these steps:

  1. Unpack all the products because sometimes our packing staff save space by putting smaller items inside the boxes of bigger items.
  2. Check the status / comments of your order , and check to see if you had any emails from SPVTrade about this order. It’s possible we split your order into more than one delivery to speed things up.
  3. Next, you should contact us to explain the problem. Provide your order number and describe which product is missing. We can confirm from our warehouse records to demonstrate that the correct products were indeed dispatched… meaning that something went missing due to a lost/stolen item in delivery. (This is rare, but it can happen.)
  4. If definitely a lost/stolen item problem, you need to contact the courier company who delivered your item and register a complaint. You must do this as soon as possible after the delivery. You can get the details of the tracking number from the packaging or check in your account. It’s imperative you, or the recipient of the delivery, contacts the courier company and follows their incident reporting system. They will give you a confirmation of your complaint, and we can then confirm this on our side when we speak to the courier.
  5. In order to combat fraud, we cannot independently verify lost/stolen item complaints. This means that we have to wait for the decision of the courier company about whether they accept the claim and will provide compensation. If they accept the claim, depending on the case they will either offer you compensation, or, more commonly, compensate SPVTrade. In that case we will confirm to you and pass on the refund, or make a new delivery to you, it will be up to you.
  6. Sometimes the confirmation process from the courier can take a while, and you could consider making a new order on SPVTrade in the meantime if you need the products urgently.

It’s a bit of a headache, but we’ll help you through the process, and if you’re reading this and you don’t have a problem, you don’t need to worry, this kind of problem doesn’t happen often… fewer than 1 in 2000 deliveries!

“My Order Can’t Be Delivered – There Is A Customs Problem”

Usually, when you import goods from SPVTrade, the packet will be inspected by your local Customs.

There’s usually no reason to worry because:

  • SPVTrade provides all the necessary paperwork for your shipment;
  • In most countries it’s pretty easy to import most kinds of consumer electronics;
  • The actual process of customs clearance is usually handled completely by the delivery company (e.g. UPS, FedEx, DHL);
  • If there is any duty (import tax) or other charges to pay, the courier will usually pay it first and deliver the products to you, and you pay them later.

If there is a question about your delivery:

  • Sometimes you may need to provide information to your local Customs about the shipment you are receiving. In some cases they need you to provide an invoice matching the invoice that accompanies the goods. In these cases please contact us immediately and we will provide you with a PDF of the shipping invoice.
  • Sometimes the products need to be backed up with some kind of licence or certificate. In these cases, we mostly already hear about it from the courier and we will handle it for you. If Customs contacts you about this, please contact us first to get our help.

Customs Liability

  • If, for any reason, the products cannot be delivered to you, due to a Customs problem, we will discuss with you case by case about how to handle this.
  • If goods are seized or turned back because of an issue that was SPVTrade‘s fault, e.g. incorrect paperwork, we will re-deliver the goods at our own expense, or offer you credit for a new order.
  • If goods cannot be delivered due to restrictions in your own country, this is your responsibility. For example, if you decided to try to import an audio-recording CCTV camera, but this technology is illegal or restricted due to local laws in the delivery destination country, that is your responsibility to know about before you order from SPVTrade. If the delivery failed for that reason, we cannot offer any compensation, because as the importer it’s your job to know about the local regulations. Another situation in which you must accept liability is where your country requires you to have a licence to import commercial goods: in this case, it is your responsibility to know about this before you place an order on SPVTrade, and in the case of a failed delivery, we cannot offer any compensation.
  • As the importer you hold sole legal responsibility for responding to questions about imported goods delivering to yourself. Import duties, sales tax, and any other customs charge, are your responsibility, as described in our terms and conditions. If a delivery fails because you do not respond in time to Customs communications, or you refuse to pay the applicable charges, we cannot offer any compensation.
If an item is missing drivers/firmwares

“I Bought This From SPV Trade But It Hasn’t Got The Right Drivers”

  • All SPV Trade products are supposed to have drivers exactly as described in the product description.
  • “Driver” usually means a Windows 98 and XP (increasingly) win 10 driver. Check the description to see if Linux or Mac OS are in any way supposed to be supported.

Here’s what to do if you have a problem:

  1. Contact us with your order number and the product code. Explain exactly which driver you need.
  2. We will send you a link so you can download the latest driver.
  3. If a whole CD-ROM was missed from the package and it’s too big to email or download, we’ll post you the disc.

Please note the following:

  • We do not provide any firmware updates or software support for any products. Attempting to flash the firmware of any SPV Trade product will void your warranty and is at your own risk.
  • Missing / wrong earphones, battery, cable?

First, check the product’s description again on spvtrade.com to make sure it is supposed to have what you think it should.

If you’re really missing something, please contact us, and here’s how we’ll handle it:

  1. Give us your order number and the product code.
  2. If the missing part is hard to explain, provide a photo and reference the comparable description photo on SPVTrade.
  3. If we confirm something is missing, we’ll send it out to you free of charge.
  4. If the missing thing is a significant “part”, not just an accessory, e.g. the main panel of a Car DVD Player, then we may need to handle that differently . contact us about the issue and our team will help you regarding the issue

All  products are supposed to ship with a manual but…

  • …sometimes the manual just isn’t very good, and you need more help with the product.
  • …sometimes we made a mistake and the manual was not put in the box.
  • …sometimes the product is new, and the manufacturer manual was so dire, we took it out!
  • …sometimes the manufacturer thought they were only selling this product in China, so there is no manual.

Here’s how we’ll help:

  1. Contact us with your order number and the product code. Explain whether there was a missing manual, or what aspect of the product’s function you need help with.
  2. If a manual was missed out accidentally, we’ll give you a link where you can download it.
  3. If the product has no manual, chances are we are already working on making one ourselves, and we’ll send that to you when it’s done.

Manuals in different languages

Currently we only offer English manuals for all products. Many manuals feature other languages (check description or enquire per product), but since these are commonly “auto translated” we can’t necessarily vouch for their quality. It’s something we’re working on steadily though!

If you are ordering in bulk, i.e. 500pcs or more, you should discuss with your sales representative at spvtrade.com about printing manuals supplied by yourself, or arranging the writing of new manuals / new translations. We can only offer such a service to existing, proven customers.

What Countries Does SPVTrade Deliver To?

We can deliver orders to any country.

Goods are sent from China by courier, and delivered to your door (home or company address).

Wherever you are in the world, you can buy electronics direct from China!

Can you ship to a PO Box?
Can you ship to a APO address?
Can you ship to a FPO address?

We highly recommend you provide a physical address for the delivery.

If you really need to ship the package to a PO BOX then you will need to please select airmail as the shipping method and only order items that weigh 2kg or less.

You will need to select an alternate address for anything larger.

We are sorry but we cannot deliver items to APO or FPO adresses.

“What if the product does not arrive?”

We guarantee your products will arrive safely in your destination country.

In the unlikely event your package is lost, we will re-send the goods or give you a full refund.

Delivery Failure Scenarios:

    • The package is lost, broken, or stolen before it reaches you.
SPVTrade will re-send the goods or give a full refund. In practice such cases are very rare, perhaps 1 in 5000 shipments, when using courier services. Please note confirmation of such cases can take some time, so in such an event you may be advised to place a new order at your expense while the original shipment is investigated pending compensation.

    • An Air Mail package has not arrived after a long time.
SPVTrade will give a full refund after the delivery deadline has expired. These cases are rare, and if this ever occurs, we will inform you of the delivery deadline for your package, which will be 30-60 days depending on the region.

    • Multi-part delivery arrives missing some items or packets.
In this case, a customer had ordered more than one product and found that the order arrived without the appropriate number of ordered items.

Similar to what you would do with regards to a broken item case, the proper reporting procedure would be: (1) contact your courier immediately to issue a formal complaint, and (2) open a ticket with SPVTrade within 3 working days and provide the requisite photos. (Guidelines for photos: Take photos of all 6 sides of the brown cardboard shipping box (outer casing) the delivery arrived in. You will then need to provide photos of the received items in the way in which they arrived inside the shipping box. Please also indicate the dimensions of the package and the gross weight of the entire package (shipping box + main product (incl. accessories, if any) + any and all packing material). Please retain the package and all contents for later reference.

After this initial phase, please contact your courier’s local office and open a claim. You will then need to contact SPVTrade to receive a formal ticket about your case. During this time, our delivery team will evaluate whether or not your missing product was the result of delivery or packing error. If it is determined that a packing error occurred, SPVTrade will credit you the value of the missing product plus a partial shipping credit. On the other hand, if it is determined the missing items were the cause of a courier mishandling, SPVTrade will follow your claim with the courier’s China office. Once the missing case is confirmed by the courier, SPVTrade will credit you for the value of the missing product + partial shipping.

    • Items in the packet arrive in a damaged condition.
A customer’s order arrived with product/s in damaged condition.

In such a scenario, you must, first, raise the issue immediately with the courier or delivery company. Then, open a ticket with SPVTrade and provide the requisite photos. (Guidelines for photos: First, take photos of all 6 sides of the box that contains the product (inner casing). Then, take photos of all 6 sides of the brown cardboard shipping box (outer casing). For the product itself, please provide enough photos that will accurately show, first, the whole product and then a close-up of the damaged area.) The photos will then be used for remodeling the broken process to find out the cause of the damage. And also the customer needs to keep the original packing case for courier’s investigation purposes.

Provided you follow the correct reporting process, your case can be dealt with expeditiously if the incident report is received by SPVTrade within 3 working days from your receipt of the damaged article/s. Once SPVTrade receives the ticket with the details and photos clearly evidencing the damage, and confirms the products were indeed damaged during transit, a credit worth the product value of the damaged item will be made in your SPVTrade account or a replacement part or accessory, if applicable, will be sent to you at our discretion.

  • A shipment is delayed, turned back, or seized by Customs.
If the Customs issue was your responsibility, you are liable. If the failed delivery was due to mis-handling by SPVTrade , you will receive compensation when the case is resolved. Such cases are unusual but it is important you are aware of your responsibilities in such a case. Please read the custom clearance issues in custom clearance section for further details.
  • General Delivery Failure Cases Where You Accept Liability

You (or the consignee) must accept delivery of the goods and comply with any applicable procedures/charges from your local Customs.

    If the delivery fails because:

    • you were not at home or the courier could not contact you
    • the delivery details were wrong
    • the recipient fails to accept the goods
    • the courier cannot satisfactorily verify the identity of the person attempting to receive the goods
    • the courier cannot deliver to a remote area or invalid address
    • delivery fails due to war, disaster, etc
    • other similar scenarios beyond our control

… [in such cases] you agree that SPVTrade will not accept liability and no compensation is available..

Can I pay COD – cash on delivery?

No. Sorry. We can only accept payment in advance. You can use one of our secured payment methods to pay for your order.

The SPV Trade checkout shipping fee is only a basic one that is calculated according to the country of destination and does not include extra charges that the express company may apply for things such as remote area fee, elevated risk fee etc.

“How do you ensure the quality of the products?”

SPV Trade sources unique, hi-tech products from China Mainland factories. The factories are often OEM manufacturers for big, well-known electronics brands. Their product quality is excellent, but we know that sometimes, factory production line error rates are simply not strict enough. You need to maintain a near-perfect image with your customers, and that means the minimum of product problems.

To guarantee the quality of the products you buy from us, we’ve put in place a rigorous Quality Control process for all our products.

  • Every product you buy from spvtrade.com has been quality controlled by our QC technicians before it was put on the warehouse shelves.
  • All products are visually inspected for good appearance.
  • All products are switched on and have their main functions tested one by one.
  • All packages are checked to ensure they contain the correct accessories. Accessories such as earphones and cables are tested as well.

No other supplier in China will go to the same lengths to guarantee the quality of your products.

That’s why at SPVTrade we promise you:

China Prices, Western Quality

Tax & Customs Duties (4)

Customs Clearance Issues

All imported goods are subject to Customs clearance in every country. When you buy from SPVTrade, the goods are sent from China. Therefore you are importing, and you are the importer responsible for the goods when the goods pass through Customs in your destination country. According to our general terms and conditions, you may order anything you like from SPVTrade and we will fulfil your order, but it remains totally your responsibility to find out in advance if the products are permissible to import into your destination country, and if so what clearance requirements, taxes, policies etc apply in that country. SPVTrade cannot and will not offer advice or pre-shipment information on Customs issues in any regard.

we can confirm that in over 99.9% of shipments from SPVTrade there is no issue whatsoever with Customs clearance. Furthermore in the majority of the rare cases subject to a delay in Customs, the goods are released and delivered successfully. This is because the clearance via normal shipping methods (couriers or post) is handled professionally by the shipping company, and SPVTrade is an experienced provider of correct shipping documentation and compliant products and packaging.

You need to be aware that, since any order you make on SPVTrade.com will pass through your country’s Customs, the Customs have the right to hold and inspect your goods according to their policies.

Every country’s Customs has different policies, and these policies can vary substantially, for example…

  • …from port to port
  • …from day to day or from one Custom’s staff member to another
  • …depending on the volume of packages requiring clearance on any particular day
  • …depending on the security levels and political climate of the moment
  • …depending on the package shipment method
  • …depending on the package origin
  • …depending on the package, weight, shape, packing, size, profile, x-ray results, etc
  • …depending on the package contents
  • …depending on the declared or assessed valuation of the package contents
  • …depending on the paperwork accompanying the shipment
  • …depending on random inspection timetables or scheduled batch checks for particular criteria

As the importer, you bear sole responsibility for the clearance of the goods any issues that may arise from an inspection or hold. Typically, the consignee of the shipped packets is taken as the importer in any problem case.

In most countries, depending on the category of goods imported and the quantity or value, the shipment will be assessed for duties and /or sales tax. That is your responsibility as the importer.

In The Case Of A Customs Hold

  1. SPVTrade will contact you to discuss the issue openly.
  2. You will typically be required to communicate directly with your country’s Customs, or contact them via your courier company.
  3. If additional documents are required, SPVTrade will do our utmost to provide the documents to you and support the goods clearance.
  4. Your country’s Customs can hold goods pending a decision for as long as they like.
  5. The final decision about assessing, valuing, taxing, releasing/refusing, seizing the goods is entirely down to Customs. In some cases no reasons are provided, and in many countries the importer has no right of appeal. In most countries the Customs are hard to communicate with and lack basic public information or accessible staff contact.
  6. In the vast majority of cases, the goods are released after a delay ranging from 1 day to 6 months… the reason for the delay is usually unknown, and the length of the delay is unfortunately beyond anyone’s control.
  7. If the goods are refused entry, they will either be destroyed with no compensation, or turned back so the courier ships them back to SPVTrade.

Under these terms and conditions, which you are agreeing to at the time you place your order, you are acknowledging you understand your basic responsibilities as an importer and the resultant liabilities should any exception occur.

Examples of situations where SPVTrade will compensate you

  • If internationally recognised documents such as CE / FCC / Sisvel could not be supplied fast enough by SPVTrade, and Customs refused entry to the goods.
  • If you made a valid request for customization of the shipping paperwork, and we agreed to follow your instructions but failed to do so.
  • If we made any other serious error on the paperwork accompanying the goods.
  • If the goods were delayed or impounded by China Exit Customs rather than your own country’s Customs.
  • If a Customs inquiry reveals a valid IPR issue with the products. SPVTrade never knowingly markets/sells counterfeit products or any products/packaging infringing intellectual property of any parties.

Examples of situations where you are not entitled to compensation

  • If you refused to accept the goods.
  • If the goods could not clear due to import restrictions that are specific to your own country, e.g. FDA approval of products (USA), country-specific certification, restricted categories of goods, quotas, so-called anti-dumping enforcement etc.
  • If you refused to accept applicable taxes or other charges associated with the import procedure.
  • If you refused to pay additional charges or fines resulting from Customs’ re-assessment of the classification or value of the goods.
  • If you were unable to accept the goods due to laws in your country such as a lack of an import licence.
  • If Customs refused entry to your goods because you failed to provide paperwork or other information in a timely manner, OR provided incorrect paperwork or information.
  • If Customs refused entry to your goods but they did not provide a reason, OR we were unable to confirm sufficient detail of the supposed reason.
  • If Customs refused entry to your goods due to a supposed IPR issue, but in our opinion this is unsubstantiated.
  • If Customs are still holding the goods after a period of at least 6 weeks and after our best efforts we have no further detail about the reason for the hold or any probable resolution to the case.
  • If clearance failed due to lack of licences / documents / certificates which are specific to your country and SPVTrade deems it beyond the reasonable scope of our Shipping Team to provide these documents in the absence of any pre-shipment communication from you.
  • If Customs refused entry to your goods or levied increased taxes, charges, or fines associated with the classification or declared value of the goods on the shipping paperwork. We always inform you in advance about the declaration of your goods, and in the cases of larger shipments you have to agree to the declaration value explicitly, so this is deemed to be totally your responsibility.
  • If we previously warned you about a possible increased risk of delivery exceptions due to our experience of shipping to your country, for whatever reason, but you explicitly agreed to go ahead with the order.

Compensation

  • “Compensation” refers to full or partial refund/credit of the amount you paid for the goods and /or shipping (depending on the situation). SPVTrade will absolutely not offer any further compensation or accept any liability in any other regard.
  • We reserve the sole right to evaluate the reason for a Customs exception. We will do this openly based on our communications with the Courier, your country’s Customs, and any evidence you have provided us of your own communications with the Courier and Customs.
  • If the goods are returned to China, but we deem that you were liable for the failed delivery not us, we may be able to compensate partially, based on any remaining credit after return delivery fees, China import taxes, and restocking fees.
  • If the goods are impounded, held indefinitely, destroyed, or confiscated by Customs, and according to the policy above this is not SPVTrade‘s responsibility (including where the actual reason for the exception was never clarified), you will not receive compensation of any kind.

Please note that all import taxes / duties are the recipient’s responsibility. So if you are delivering to someone else like a friend or direct to a customer, any taxes payable will be their initial responsibility.

SPVTrade will accept no responsibility for customs costs incurred.

Many countries do not charge import duties on private items, samples, and goods below a certain stated value.

However, you may find that you have to pay taxes when goods you’ve ordered from us arrive in your country.

Obviously you will want this to be as low as possible, but SPVTrade CANNOT give you advice or information about tax rates and customs charges in your country.

All we can do is declare the value of the shipped goods at a nominal value (see below), which may still be fully taxable.

Items shipped from SPVTrade will be declared at the lowest nominal market price as a standard assumption.

This lowest market price is based on the manufacturing origin and might not be reflective of how much the item will cost you if bought in your local retail market.

You must ensure you find out about regulations in your own country before ordering from SPVTrade. In most countries the actual origin of the goods (China) is not important: only the declared value of the goods and declared contents is relevant.

Let us know if you have any special packing or labelling instructions when placing your order. Add comments to the box on the “Delivery Information” page of the Checkout Process.

SPVTrade will never falsely identify or misrepresent goods on customs forms.

SPVTrade does not add any sales taxes or hidden charges to orders.

Do I have to pay VAT or any other form of sales tax on products bought through SPVTrade?

We do not add any additional charges or taxes in China.

What you see on the invoice summary on the final checkout screen is what you have to pay to SPVTrade.

Possible additional costs to you may include:
– bank transfer charges,
– Paypal money ‘upload’ (i.e. deposit) charges,
– and any import duties that are levied at customs.

“Do I have to pay tax on orders I buy at SPVTrade ?”

Maybe. It depends on what country you are receiving the goods in.

Tax is a complex issue, because it depends what country you are receiving the goods into. Some countries are easy to import into, and have few restrictions and no taxes. Other countries are ultra restrictive and have high taxes. Before you start importing bigger quantities of China electronics to your country, you’ll need to research what the law and practices are in your country (or shipping destination countries if you are dropshipping internationally).

Please read the following notes for some basic background…

No Sales Tax Charged By SPVTrade:

  • There are no sales taxes or hidden charges to pay on the China side when you buy at SPVTrade.com – However, you may need to pay some taxes on your local side when you receive the goods. Please read below for more information.
  • When you buy from China, and the products are delivered to your country, this is by definition importing. This means the process to receive the goods will usually be different to simply buying mail-order products from shops inside your country.

Import Duty and Sales Tax Charged By Your Country:

  • Some countries charge tax on certain imported products, at certain quantity/value levels. Some countries do not. You are responsible for finding out the situation in your own country.
  • Whatever you order from SPVTrade, we will send you. We won’t enforce any rules so it’s up to you to make sure that what you are buying is OK to import in your country.
  • Many countries charge two kinds of tax when you import anything from overseas. These are (1) Sales Tax (VAT); (2) Import Duty. Usually these taxes are not very high, and the tax is calculated according to the value of the goods (+ shipping sometimes). On the other hand, many countries do not charge any tax on certain types of goods, or on small shipments.

Declared Value: Packet Value Affects Tax

  • Usually, importing big quantities of goods from overseas is controlled by your country’s customs quite strictly, but smaller quantities can be imported more freely. The definition of “big quantity” and “small quantity” (often defined by a value “threshhold”) varies from country to country.
  • The term “ad valorem” in import taxes means that the tax you have to pay is calculated as a percentage of the total value of the goods (+sometimes the shipping too). Obviously there would be an advantage to declare the value of the goods lower in such cases. This is known as “under-declaring” the goods and is not permitted, despite being widespread practice. Any customization you request from us in regard to declaration value on the shipping paperwork is at your own risk.

Declared Contents: Packet Contents Affect Tax

  • The category of goods you are importing often has an effect on whether you have to pay tax, or how much.
  • Obviously, certain categories of dangerous or restricted goods are illegal to import in most countries. Other, specific restrictions on certain items such as laser products or AV recording devices may apply in your country as well – please research that information for your local country.
  • The declared contents of a package must be true and accurate for customs purposes. Any customization you request from us regarding declaration of packet contents is at your own risk.

Tax And Air Mail Packets

  • Typically, taxes are more often / more strictly applied to courier shipments (UPS, FedEx, DHL) than postal shipments (Air Mail, USPS, EMS). In many countries, for single items, postal shipping is a simple way to reduce or eliminate import taxes.
  • However, shipping by air mail is not necessarily a guarantee of avoiding such taxes.

How To Pay Import Taxes

  • If you have to pay any tax on the goods you receive, the most common way is that the taxes are first paid at customs by the courier (e.g. DHL, FedEx, UPS) and then you simply pay back the courier using cash or your credit card, when they deliver the goods to your door.
  • On bigger orders (meaning, for most countries, anything more than one or two cartons) you should consider hiring a professional licensed Customs Broker to assist you with the clearance of your goods when they arrive in your destination country. This is because tax and contents assessment is applied most strictly to bigger shipments.

Why You Need To Do Your Own Research

  • Import and tax rules are (a) different in every country; (b) changing often; (c) highly dependent on the shipment size and contents; and (d) not consistently applied by your country’s different ports and customs houses. Therefore SPVTrade cannot offer you specific advice about how much tax you will have to pay, or any guarantees related to this issue.
  • We will always do our best to help you import successfully and profitably. If you have any doubts, simply open a live chat or help ticket with our English-speaking Customer Support Team.
  • Sometimes the importing rules according to your country’s government and customs are not enforced as strictly or consistently as they say. A good way to find out the realities of importing into your country is to begin with a series of smaller orders from SPVTrade and make careful notes of what (if any) steps you had to go through or charges you had to pay. You may be pleasantly surprised how easy importing is for you.

Who Provides Import Paperwork?

  • In general all the paperwork required for clearing your goods through customs is provided by SPVTrade. Usually the shipping invoice and courier waybill included with all shipments from us is sufficient.
  • Sometimes additional paperwork such as product licences are required by customs. We track all of your shipments until they reach you, so if there is such a requirement, we will respond to it promptly on your behalf, usually without the need for you to take any action.
  • You may need to show a copy of the shipping invoice to receive your products in some cases, and we will give you the papers you need on request.
  • It is your responsibility to confirm the details of the shipping paperwork with SPVTrade before the goods are sent out. We will follow your instructions for customizing the shipping documentation according to your requirements, and you, as the importer, bear full responsibility for any exception arising from this paperwork.

Tax Liability

  • The importer is solely responsible for all import taxes, sales taxes, and any other customs-related charges.
  • SPVTrade accepts no liability for any such charges. Importing taxes and charges cannot and will not be quoted/predicted, and they cannot be reimbursed to you under any circumstances.
  • If an importer refuses to pay taxes or otherwise refuses to comply with requirements of the importing or customs clearance process, the goods will usually not be delivered successfully. In such cases the goods could be seized by customs, destroyed, or returned back to China. In any such cases you, the importer, bear sole responsibility provided no error has been made by SPVTrade in following your order requirements.

Import Taxes And Dropshipping – Warning

  • Dropshipping means you “sell” goods to an end customer, and SPVTrade sends the goods directly to your customer without you handling the goods. This means that the end customer is the consignee of the package being sent from China, and this means your customer is also considered to be the “importer” of the goods. Thus, your customer bears full responsibility for importing the goods and paying any applicable taxes, duties, and other charges. Make sure you research the situation and inform your customers clearly in advance!
  • Responsibilities small print:
    – In this system, you as the Dropship Vendor are solely responsible for informing your Dropship Customer about the China origin of the goods, the shipping method, the import declaration used, the import process, any taxes or charges that are likely to be charged or could be charged, and the mechanism for receiving goods and paying applicable charges. You are solely responsible for establishing and communicating whatever delivery terms, warranty, guarantees, or other contracts that you wish to establish with your customers; in these matters SPVTrade accepts no liability.
    – When dropshipping via eBay selling, Amazon selling, or any similar third party sales platform, you must additionally abide by their terms and conditions for clarifying the delivery/import process for your customers and clearly communicating/advertising your terms before the sale.
    – In an exception case where a Dropship Customer refuses to receive goods, refuses to pay taxes, or otherwise fails to comply with the import process, you as the Dropship Vendor bear full responsibility for resolving the issue directly with your Dropship Customer. In dropship cases SPVTrade as the Dropship Wholesaler will be deemed to have fulfilled all responsibility for delivering the order, and SPVTrade will not accept any liability in such cases. In practical terms this means that in such a failed delivery case, you would have to decide whether or not to compensate your customer, but SPVTrade would not offer you any form of refund.
    – If you consistently fail to inform your customers properly about their import responsibilities, leading to delivery exceptions, we reserve the right to close your account and cancel any outstanding orders.

Getting More Information About Taxes

  • Please undertake your own research about import regulations and taxes in your country. We can offer informal pre-sales advice, but we will not offer any formal advice or guarantees due to this issue being beyond our control.
  • After you have placed your order from SPVTrade, make sure you get in touch with us to confirm details of any customization that you require for your shipping invoice declarations.
  • After your packets have been sent out from our warehouse, we will stay in touch with you and help you with any further importing process steps.
